Yesterday evening saw Benjamin return to Carnegie Hall for a sold-out recital of Chopin’s Piano Sonata No.2 followed by Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit as well as Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in its original solo-piano format. The new year brings further solo recitals including at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Chicago’s Symphony Center, as well as chamber music with his Piano Quartet at Vienna’s Musikverein. Following his Concertgebouw appearance, Benjamin heads to Stockholm this week for his debut with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He will play Beethoven Concerto No.1 with conductor Yoel Gamzou.

Benjamin performed Rachmaninoff Concerto No.2 at the Concertgebouw this week with the Sinfonia of London and John Wilson, in the orchestra's international debut. Benjamin returns to the hall in February for a recital of Beethoven, Schumann, Scriabin and Ravel.

This evening, Benjamin returns to London's Southbank Centre for a recital at Queen Elizabeth Hall. The programme consists of three large-scale masterpieces - Chopin's Second Sonata, Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit, and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition - and is one that Benjamin takes this December to the US, culminating in a recital at Carnegie Hall.

Benjamin begins his season this week with a tour of Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. He will give performances of Mozart's Concerto No.21 with the Auckland Philharmonia/Shiyeon Sung and Beethoven Concerto No.1 with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra/Martyn Brabbins before recitals at Ukaria, Melbourne Recital Centre, and Snow Concert Hall, Canberra. His tour concludes with a return to Singapore, and a rectial at the Victoria Concert Hall.
