Artist in Residence: Wigmore Hall 2021-22 Season

Wigmore Hall has announced its 2021-22 season, and with it Benjamin’s new post as Artist in Residence. Chosen by Wigmore Hall’s Director John Gilhooly, the programme offers several concerts throughout the season, exploring specially devised programmes and projects, and allowing audiences a glimpse into the artistry of the musicians.

Benjamin will next perform at Wigmore Hall on 9th October 2021, alongside Hyeyoon Park (violin), Timothy Ridout (viola) and Kian Soltani (cello). This special programme, focussing on piano quartets, includes rare works by Mahler and Strauss.

Benjamin last performed at the Wigmore on 9th June 2020 in a stunning recital with Hyeyoon Park. In her review for The Guardian, Flora Wilson said:

“No empty hall could sound more still than it did as Hyeyoon Park and Benjamin Grosvenor spun Szymanowski’s gossamer musical fabric in the third movement. Such impressionistic music depends hugely on the quality of its surface and in this performance it was practically flawless ... Franck’s Violin Sonata – the second half of the programme – was a simultaneous showcase of Park’s huge palette of tone colours and of Grosvenor’s ability to conjure clarity from the densest of textures.”
