Benjamin Grosvenor’s Schumann & Brahms album has been recognised with two of the most prestigious awards for classical recordings: Diapason d’or de l’année and CHOC Classica.
His seventh album for Decca has been described as ‘one of the great Kreisleriana’s on disc’ (EuropaDisc) and ‘a masterpiece’ (Le Devoir) and was also nominated for a Gramophone award and runner-up in the Limelight awards
On winning the CHOC Classica, Benjamin said:
“I am honoured that Schumann & Brahms (2023) is among the 20 winning recordings for the Classica Chocs de l’année. This award is a testament to the dedication and passion of everyone involved in bringing this recording to life. I am immensely grateful to Classica, Decca Classics, and to all who have supported and embraced the music.”
Following his critically-acclaimed week with Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No.1 and Scottish Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maxim Emelyanychev, Grosvenor is shortly to embark upon a European tour with his Piano Quartet – with Hyeyoon Park, Timothy Ridout and Kian Soltani in venues including Laeiszhalle, Hamburg and Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, with very limited tickets to the opening concert at the Wigmore Hall on Tuesday 28 November available here.
