Benjamin looks forward to three performances at the Barbican in the first half of 2019, including two concerts with the Doric String Quartet and a solo recital in May.
On the 11 February, Benjamin and the Doric String Quartet join forces for Fauré's Piano Quintet No. 1 in D minor, and Benjamin will also perform a chamber version of Chopin’s First Piano Concerto. Benjamin will rejoin the quartet for a second performance at the Milton Court Concert Hall on the 26 May, where they perform Dvorak's Piano Quintet No. 2 after Benjamin takes to the stage for Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2.
Benjamin will also be performing a solo recital at the Barbican Hall on the 16 May, taking Schumann as his starting point for a musical journey through three different gateways into the Russian soul. The programme includes Schumann's Blumenstück and Kreisleriana, Janacek's Piano Sonata 1.X.1905 and Prokofiev's Visions Fugitives.
Ahead of these performances, Benjamin prepares for a busy January with concerts in Woking (9 January), the Evesham Arts Centre (11 January), Stamford Arts Centre (12 January), Lyon (17 & 19 January), the Grand Théâtre de Provence, (18 January), The Lighthouse, Poole (23 January), Guildhall, Portsmouth (24 January) and the Beethoven-Haus, Bonn (31 January).
