"Pianistic Fireworks

With subtle and confident maturity the English pianist, who is in his mid-twenties, headed for the closing piece, Ravels rightfully dreaded Gaspard de la nuit. But from the start the pianist enthralled/captivated with his lively yet crystal clear rendering of Bach’s French Suite in G major, with rich dynamics and stylistically authentic embellishments, especially in the repetitions.

A sense for subtle colours in piano and pianissimo was combined with powerful yet unforced touch and spirited creative will in Grosvenor’s playing, captivatingly put on display in Brahms’ Rhapsody.

Liszt’s concert etude “Gnomenreigen”, given as an encore, sparked once again barnstorming/brilliant pianistic fireworks."
