BBC Proms Dubai to feature Benjamin Grosvenor

Benjamin Grosvenor is travelling to the United Arab Emirates with the world’s largest classical music festival, the BBC Proms, for a four-day festival at the Dubai Opera. Benjamin will perform three concerts with Edward Gardner and the BBC Symphony Orchestra as part of the festival and will present piano concerti by Britten, Mozart and Saint-Saëns.

The four-day event will feature six proms, including the three performances with Benjamin and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Other proms include James Burton leading the BBC Singers in two a cappella programmes of British choral music and a late night prom presented by the oud virtuoso Joseph Tawadros and his Quartet.

The BBC Proms Dubai concerts will represent a sample of what The Proms stands for; including local composers, world premieres and compositions, as well as classical repertoire and the obligatory Last Night. The festival will culminate with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Singers presenting the traditional closing prom including Henry Wood’s Fantasia on British Sea-Songs, Arne’s Rule, Britannia! and Elgar’s first Pomp and Circumstance march.

All of the proms will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
