This rave review from The New York Times of Benjamin’s recital début at Carnegie Hall on 15th October describes him as “boy lord of the piano”. UK presenter, actor and comedian, Stephen Fry tweeted he “Can’t recall the last time a young British artist of any kind got such a review for a US debut.” Described as “playing with a judgment far beyond his years and a tone so achingly antique” the programme of Baroque-inspired works - including César Franck’s Prélude, Choral et Fugue, Busoni’s transcription of Bach’s Chaconne in D minor and Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin - was devoured by the audience resulting in three encores and a standing ovation.

The reviewer, David Allen, draws the analogy with the greatest of sportsmen writing that “A similar patience distinguishes Mr. Grosvenor from the pack of young pianists touring concert halls today … others can wow with speed or daring, Mr. Grosvenor makes you sigh with joy.”
