Benjamin Grosvenor to open the International Piano Series

The Southbank Centre has announced that Benjamin Grosvenor will give the opening concert in their International Piano Series this Spring, which takes place in the newly re-opened Queen Elizabeth Hall on the 26 April. 

 

Benjamin will be performing a programme of Bach, Brahms, Brett Dean, Debussy, Berg and Ravel at the series, which aims to celebrate the finest pianists of today; embracing both accomplished artists and the new generation of talent. Benjamin's opening performance will be followed by appearances from Maurizio Pollini, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Khatia Buniatishvili and Boris Giltburg, Paul Lewis, Stephen Hough, Martin Helmchen and George Li. The following month, Benjamin will close the International Chamber Music Series on the 29th May, performing Schubert’s Trout Quintet alongside Hyeyoon Park, violin, Brett Dean, viola, Kian Soltani, cello and Leon Bosch double bass. The programme also includes Brahms' Piano Quartet No.1, which Benjamin will perform in the first half of the concert. More information can be found on the Southbank Centre website.
