Benjamin Grosvenor appeared with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) under conductor Andrew Manze last week, performing Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major to critical acclaim.
In its review, Bachtrack praised Grosvenor’s performance as “stupendous,” highlighting his “uncanny ability to produce a gorgeous sound that consistently carries over a full symphony orchestra without ever sounding forced.” The slow movement, Adagio assai, was noted for its beauty, with the reviewer writing that Grosvenor “was able to teleport his audience to an idyllic paradise.”
Benjamin performs the work this summer at the BBC Proms and in the autumn with Manfred Honneck and the Filarmonica della Scala at La Scala in Milan.
